Westward Pathfinder is a local charity set up in 1999 to assist individuals and communities within the South West to participate in their own economic and social development through the use of new Information and Communication Technologies.

Westward Pathfinder is responsible for the development and management of Pathfinder Learning Centres across Devon as well as a centre in Taunton.  Not only does it provide computer based training it also works in conjunction with the Devon Learning Partnership, Prospects, Working Links, Petroc College, Jobcentre Plus, etc, to provide training, support and advice for people looking for work.

The Centres are;

Westward Pathfinder in Exeter, Torquay, Chulmleigh and Taunton, the Pathfinder Learning Centre in Ilfracombe, Pathfinder Vivian Moon Learning Centre in Braunton, Pathfinder Learning Centre and Pathfinder to Work Centre in Barnstaple, Pathfinder Ockment Centre in Okehampton and Pathfinder Learning Centre in Bideford.

It also raises funding for the development and implementation of new projects in Devon as well as participating with other centres and networks, throughout the South West, to promote and broaden community use of the latest technologies.

Chief executive George Curry pioneering the use of video conferencing in 1995 to overcome the problems of distance in the South West rural community.
