Work Programme is a Government initiative to provide support for people claiming Jobseeker/Employment and Support Allowances or Incapacity Benefit into sustainable jobs. It will help individuals to prepare and train for employment and find and retain jobs suitable to their circumstances and abilities. As a coherent package of support for people out of work, it will help jobseekers regardless of the barriers they face or the benefits they claim. |
| The
Prospects Ascent Journey takes a holistic approach to
worklessness by removing barriers, measuring and rewarding
progress, dealing with the issues of unemployment prior to
helping people into employment, and only doing what we agree is
realistic and the client is capable of, and happy with. Ascent stands for: Aspiration and Motivation, Skills for the Future, Challenges, Employer Desirability, Notable Influences and Transferrable and Specialist Skills. The client will be given new direction, motivation and confidence, provided with bite size goals, recognised for their achievements, and encouraged to remain motivated and encouraged to achieve what is realistic. |

How it works:- When a
client is referred to the Work Programme they are initially called by The Listening Company who complete a telephone diagnostic assessment
with reference to the six strands of the Ascent Journey. The assessment
is passed to Prospects who then refer the client to the nearest delivery
centre. The client is contacted and invited to an Induction session where the Programme is explained, including advisor and client responsibilities. A one-to-one meeting with a personal advisor is booked and at this meeting an agreed programme of training is planned. The client will have a meeting with their personal advisor at least every two weeks to monitor their progress against the Ascent Journey. When the advisor feels the client is ready they will be supported in looking for sustainable work (travel expenses are paid for all visits by the client into the centre). The client can be supported on the Programme for up to two years and when they get a job they will continue to be monitored by The Listening Company who will refer any issues back to Prospects to provide further support. |
